Eyebolts are bolts with a circular ring on the head of the bolt. Eye bolts are commonly used to attach cables to objects. There are different types of eye bolts including regular eyebolts (ring bolts for vertical lifting only) and shoulder eyebolts (for vertical or angle loading)

Each eyebolt from Special Industrial Supplies has a thread diameter and safe working load at 0 degrees (cable attached vertically). Attaching a cable to an eyebolt at an angle (eg 45 degree angle) will weaken the eyebolt.

How to use eye bolts safely

• Position the eye bolt in line with the sling or cable. If the load is applied at an angle, the eye bolt may bend.
• Place washers between the shoulder of the eyebolt and the load surface to ensure that the eye bolt is in firm contact with the surface. Ensure that the nut is properly tightened.
• Use at least 90% of the threads of the eyebolt in the receiving hole when using washers.
• Inspect and clean the eyebolt and holes threads if required
• Do not use the point of a hook to attach to an eye bolt - rather use a shackle.
